My daily driver is my 2014 Toyota Tacoma. This was the first headlight retrofit ever and it's also what started it all. I remember began taking things apart or "retrofitting" when I was very young. I would take apart anything I could because I had to see how it was made. I wanted to see every individual part and I knew that if I took everything out and remembered where each piece went that I could put it all back. It began with putting together Bionicles. I then began to take apart Tech Decks. I would repaint them as well as switch out the wheels. This led to refurbishing skateboards. As I got older I began to take apart anything that had screws on the outside which includes printers, flip phones, laptops, and old clunky computers. I would always be sure to put it back together, and I learned how to fix some printers and phones while doing it. I also used to play Midnight Club, which is a race car game where you could take whichever car you had to the garage and have it upgraded. I would upgrade everything I could, and would repaint the car and pick out rims, certain body panel upgrades, and bumpers. I learned what looked good on certain cars as well as other skills that I still use today. Then one day I got a Toyota Tacoma and that's when I was introduced into the automotive industry and all of the endless mods. I found Tacoma World which is an online forum that has tons of members who post their own modifications and anything that they have done to their Tacoma for all to see. I would research the forum always looking for that next DIY mod, which is when I learned I had an addiction. I was addicted to customizing cars. This led to me retrofitting the headlights on my Tacoma. After I completed my first set of retrofitted headlights, it hit me that this is a passion I could build a career around. I then created my own website americanretrofits.com, and have since retrofitted over 150 headlights for various vehicles including Toyota Tundra's, Toyota 4Runner's, Toyota Sequoia's, Chevy Camaro's, Chevy Corvette's, Chevy Silverado's, Ford F-150's, Ford Raptor's, Ford F-250-450's, Nissan Frontier's, and Dodge Ram's. I have done business in 30 states, as well as international business in Jamaica, Mexico, Indonesia and Canada. I am currently working on restoring a 1979 Chevy Camaro. Right now it is completely stripped, and I am in the middle of replacing all of the floor pans, getting rid of all the rust, and completing the body work. I plan on painting it candy apple red and redoing the whole interior in black vinyl.
